Romans 10:14-15: "How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!'"

Current Status: Missionaries with ABWE

First Leg of the Journey:  Pre-Field, A time of preparation and ministry.

During Pre-Field, we had two main objectives:  complete our assignments and build our ministry partners.

Examples of our assignments included (these are only a few):
  • Completing research on our destination--Montemorelos, Mexico
  • Completing our Biblical studies--Dave completed his bachelor's degree with Covington Theological Seminary and Melanie completed ABWE's required core Biblical foundation courses.
  • Evangelism and Discipleship development

Building our ministry partners:

Partners in the ministry is essential to our journey.  We need both prayer and financial partners to travel with us on this journey of faith.  To find out how you can partner with us, please visit Partner.

Next stop: Essential Missions Component

Essential Missions Component occurred when we reached a commitment of 50% of our required financial support and had completed the required assignments.  The purpose of this one-week course is to equip new missionaries for cross-cultural church planting, that leads to national or regional church planting movements, that lead to international missions movements—to the glory of God.

Are we there yet? Field Preparation Seminar

Field Preparation Seminar occurred when we reached a commitment of 85% of our financial support and had completed the final assignments.  Field Prep focuses on: Transition to the mission field, Major adjustments to living in another culture, and Adapting to the existing ABWE field team.  This was the last stop before our first assignment.

Second Leg of the Journey: Language School

To minister in Mexico, it is essential that we speak the language!  Our first stop before Montemorelos was language school.  We spent one year learning Spanish at the Spanish-Language Institute in San Jose Costa Rica.  Then, we were off to Mexico...

Final Destination: Montemorelos, Nuevo Leon, Mexico

We arrived in Montemorelos, Nuevo Leon, Mexico in October 2018.  We work with several different churches; however, we are currently focusing on five of those churches.  They do not have a pastor, so we work with two other missionaries to minister to these churches through teaching, preaching, leadership development, and construction/maintenance needs.
