Residency process update: Tuesday when we went to the immigration office to continue our visa process, we were not permitted to enter the building to apply. We had 30 days to apply after entering Mexico on November 3. Due to our COVID-19 illness, we physically were not able to apply within 30 days. Our lawyer says there is protocol for an extension due to health reasons. Tomorrow we will try to apply at a different office at 8 am CST. We are thankful for the prayers of permission to apply and understand of the Spanish language. This really is not a fun process, but we want to be a good testimony during the process.

Many know that we have been sick for a week or so. We have both tested positive for COVID-19. Melanie has had a cold with no sense of taste or smell. Dave has been hit a little harder with extreme fatigue. Per Mexico guidelines, we have to stay inside our home 14 days from the day of a positive test. Fines and/or prison are the penalties if we don’t comply. Please pray for our ministry partner Jorge Sauceda as he continues to minister to our Churches.

Tomorrow is an important day. We appreciate your prayers not only for the election, but also for our appointment with the Mexican consulate at 9:30 CST to begin our residency visa application. A lot of work has gone into collecting the necessary paperwork and we pray it is sufficient for our applications to be accepted.

Day of the Dead. All Saint’s Day. Día de Los Muertos. This is the holiday happening right now in Mexico. Today and tomorrow, people will fill the cemeteries in hopes they can be reunited with their loved ones who have already passed. Thankfully, we do have a hope in Christ. We can know that the only way we can see our loved ones again who have died being saved in Christ is to accept Him as our personal Savior as well. Taco Tuesday: Melanie’s dad has said: “many people have never been to church because no one has ever invited them.” Last night at The Face of God Baptist Church in Terán, we had several visitors—why? Because their neighbors invited them. One of those visitors now has new life in Christ. We are rejoicing in her salvation.

Taco Tuesday: special prayer/event We were studying the discipleship course through Samaritan’s Purse/Operation Christmas Child before we left. We reviewed last week and will have a mini Vacation Bible school this week to finish, including a service with the parents for a graduation. Our mascot, Sam, will be there for the fun. Please pray for us as we present the Gospel and minister to the kids (following COVID-19 guidelines, of course).

Taco Tuesday: a warm welcome home People have mentioned how good it is that we already feel like Mexico is our other “home”. Let us say it’s partly because how safe and a part of our community that we feel here. While we were gone, our neighbors: —tracked down our phone number to let us know our dogs got out. —grabbed our trash can that was floating away due to the rain —let our friends know our dogs had turned on the water outside so he turned it off at the road —made sure a downed telephone cable wasn’t ours Since we’ve returned: —so many have greeted us and told us they were glad to have us back. —friends have stopped by to visit with us —we’ve had extra help dealing with a mold problem we came back to —and we had a neighbor give us some freshly picked avocados It’s good to be “home”
