Christmas time in ministry. Time to organize the Christmas gifts sent by all of you for our Christmas services. What better way to get in the mood than to watch a Christmas movie while working. #messiahsmagi #missionsinmexico

Thank you all of the prayers. Bad news first: we were denied our residency. After our lawyer pleaded on our behalf for two hours and although the government official wanted to help us, he simply could not due to the laws. Good news: Even though we have to start the process again, this time we are working with an excellent Christian lawyer, the process will be done correctly from the beginning, and we should receive the residency with no issues.

Thank you for all of the prayers! Permission was granted and we have an appt at 9am Monday morning in Mexico City to receive our residency papers. Please pray for safety as we travel 10 hours south and for a smooth process. Thankful for friends and fellow missionaries there who are letting us crash at their house for the weekend.

After taking a few days’ hiatus as a family, we’re repacking/reorganizing/preparing to enter Mexico. We hope to be back to our other home today. We can’t wait to see our friends there and our pets. Thanks you for all of your prayers!

After 6 weeks of traveling and sharing about the ministry, we are heading back to Mexico. We plan to stretch out the trip to include a few days to unplug as a family before heading back into Mexico and and to accommodate Melanie also driving a vehicle. She’s usually doing the sleeping, not the driving, so we will drive shorter distances each day. We are so thankful for the new van. We are packed from front to back in two vehicles and the trailer because of all the donations given to the ministry. Thank you!! God-willing, we’ll do it all again next year.

Today was our first church presentation for furlough and the first time Dave has preached in two months. He was excited to be up there again sharing God’s Word and about the ministry in Mexico. We’ll be heading to our ABWE’s missionary enrichment conference in Pittsburgh this week. Pray as God works in our hearts and the kids as they attend their own conference with almost 100 other MKs.

David had his last follow up appointment: the cardiologist was very encouraging. Looks like the congestive heart failure was an isolated situation related to the stress his body was under and the amount of fluids he was receiving. The doctor said it is simply going to take time for his stamina to return to normal. But we are thankful for this report today.

David may be on a medical furlough but there’s still plenty of work to be done. It was a blessing to meet with our ABWE administrative, member care and field team today for praises and prayer requests. Y’all, his nurses are spoiling him. One of them actually brought him a cake pop. He’s going to expect this type of treatment when he gets home…😉 Not much news to share today. He’s been off oxygen since 4pm yesterday; just waiting on some final test results and he may be out of here sooner rather than later. Prayer works!!

Well, look who’s making progress today. He’s down to 4L of oxygen and back to a regular nasal cannula (as opposed to the high flow he’s been on). He’s been begging for ice cream so he finally got some today. He’s also checking off the days he’s “been in captivity”: 13 so far. Again, no timeline for discharge. Just needs to keep making these improvements each day. Thank you for your continued prayers.
